Studio Policies

  • Lessons are paid by the semester. Students commit to a full semester of lessons at the beginning of each semester.
  •
  • Lessons occur each week with the exception of one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas, and two weeks during spring break and February break. Lessons during these holidays are often available, but optional.
  •
  • Lesson fees cover my time, regardless of whether or not the student shows up for a lesson for any reason. There are no refunds or make ups for missed lessons.
  •
  • Lessons canceled by me for any reason are always rescheduled or refunded.
  •
  • If you know in advance that you will not be able to attend a lesson you are free to trade with another student. I will try to facilitate such trades if I have at least a week of advanced notice.
  •
  • Parents must attend lessons and take notes until the student reaches middle school.
  •
  • Siblings are welcome to attend lessons if they are able to play quietly on their own and both student and parent are able to give full attention to the lesson. Siblings are welcome to play quietly in my children’s play room during lessons.
  •
  • Students are expected to fill out their practice chart daily and bring it to each lesson.
  •
  • Six days of practice per week are expected of each student. If less than three days of practice have occurred since the last lesson, we will have a “practice lesson,” where student and parent do a practice session during the lesson and receive tips on practice techniques. If no practicing has occurred since the last lesson, no lesson will be given and there will be no refund.
  •
  • Students must keep their fingernails short at all times as well as wash their hands before each lesson.
  •
  • Please arrive a few minutes before the start of the lesson and feel free to listen quietly to the end of the lesson before you. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your lesson time.
  •
  • Feel free to give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions during the week. Don’t wait until the lesson to get clarification on something you don’t understand. I am happy to communicate in between lessons.
